From what I saw, Network Rail did challenge the need for trains to stop running, and were told by the Fire Brigade that the trains could still possibly cause sparks that would ignite the gas, even though the trains are diesel powered.
Not strictly true. SWR insisted that metro guards would have no involvement in despatch at all when the dispute ended, RMT have agreed to some degraded despatch during the soft launch, but if the grade are expected to fulfil degraded despatch on a permanent basis, as well as close the doors in...
There was 2 trees down within 5 minutes of each other. One blocked both down lines at Woking, and the other both down lines at Weybridge.
The fact both trees were close to each other probably worked against NR rather than to their benefit.
I’m led to believe that soon the “soft launch” diagram will be replaced with 3 am peak round trips, one of them being the 0753 off of Windsor ER. A step in the right direction, even if it’s a small one.
My understanding is that it was an item designed to cause distress placed onto a train, once BTP attended they then requested specialist officers who then deemed it a hoax.
Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone could expand on why other operators never adopted the manual selective door operation (MSDO) on the sprinter fleet in the same way that SWT did with their 158/159 units. Surely the benefits could have been huge?
Are they removing both Winchester and Basingstoke, or just Winchester? I can understand Winchester but Basingstoke seems like an odd decision due to the line speed, and the various connections provided from SWR services from Portsmouth/Fareham and Salisbury - Basingstoke via Andover
I don’t know I’m afraid, like I said earlier it could just be paperwork that’s yet to be filed, or the works could have affected their kinetic envelope or it could be a mixture of the two.
The 458/4s will only go on a series of set diagrams on Weybridge and Windsor services, they won’t be able to do mainline suburban or Readings from what I understand.
