Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

....and Christmas/Hogmanay. I'm pretty sure I noted East Lothian council mentioned as supporting services in the last seasonal booklet.

    Sail Rail and Delays

Don't know the details but when I arrived in the late afternoon/ early evening there was the "fast bus" standing in, but a local service bus turned up and I paid the couple of quid and used that. Left before the "fast bus".

    Sail Rail and Delays

I travelled to Dublin via Cairnryan and Belfast last October. Not only cheap ferry fares (Railsail) but depending on your timings, hotels in Belfast are way cheaper than Dublin and the Translink train to Dublin the next day was about £12, from memory, booked a week or so in advance - with a...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Looks like the Frederick St line is missing from the Saturday timetable. It must be a mistake.

    Independent Operators in the Lothians

I don't think anyone else has commented but I see there was a service change on 8th Jan with the 111 going via Fort Kinnaird in the middle* of the day. Presumably passenger numbers were healthy enough to bring in a change of route. *Departs Musselburgh High St between 0953 and 1613, and departs...

Edinburgh & The Lothians Council Tender Services

But the SNP are not the ruling party, they are in opposition but have the right to propose a budget. It's more likely that a Labour budget proposal with Con and Lib Dem support will prevail. The report talks of the budget setting meeting on 22 Feb.

Edinburgh & The Lothians Council Tender Services

Am I missing something but this seems like a good example of local councillors caving in to a relatively few noisy objectors to the loss of an existing service (Lochend) whereas the much larger number of potential beneficiaries in Dumbiedykes make no noise as they were unaware of what was being...

25 years of the railways in Scotland since the Scottish Parliament reopening

There is a long interview on Christian Wolmar's "Calling all Stations" podcast this week with Alex Hynes, head of both Scotrail and Network Rail Scotland which may be of interest to readers.

Storm Isha may affect your journey in parts of England, Scotland and Wales on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 January

LNER app says 0608 Doncaster to Edinburgh will be terminated at Dunbar. If this actually happens then the East Coast (Lothian) X7 buses between Dunbar and Edinburgh appear to be running OK. However the Borders 253 can't reach Dunbar and Edinburgh from Berwick due to the A1 closure due to an...

Storm Isha may affect your journey in parts of England, Scotland and Wales on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 January

Then RTT must be wrong. National Rail shows no departures or arrivals in Edinburgh for the next few hours. This matches with interviews on BBC Radio Scotland of all tracks in the whole of Scotland being checked in daylight and then routes opened one by one.

    Sail Rail and Delays

There's also the option of the Citylink coach from Glasgow Buchanan (with a stop in Ayr) direct to the ferry. And for Scottish residents over 60 or under 23 it's free (with a £1 reservation fee). Last time I did this routing I had a railsail ticket to Belfast, went by rail to Glasgow, but...

    Sail Rail and Delays

In contrast Stena terminal at Cairnryan is modern and reasonably comfortable. Depending where you're travelling from it may be a option. The railsail fares to Belfast via Cairnryan seem to be good value.

No trains Edinburgh to Queen Street from 29th Jan to 1st Feb ?

The Scotrail website now has the engineering works listed and the alternative routing E-G is tram to Edinburgh Park, bus to Linlithgow, then train to Glasgow. There are other implications as services to Inverness are diverted via Fife with some consequential cancellations. Sorry can't seem to...

    Xplore Dundee

I caught the 1500 ex Dundee on 3rd January and it arrived at Edinburgh Airport 10 mins early (in 70 mins).

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

This is very strange. Had a look at all the options on brfares.com and I see that Dunbar to Edinburgh off peak TPE only single fares are cheaper than the shorter journey from East Linton, despite both fares being fixed by TPE. I presume that's what you're referring to.
