If you buy an Oyster card at T5, you would need to go to the Piccadilly Line station to get a Senior Railcard applied to it.
It can't be done at the Elizabeth Line station.

You don't say which TOC you are using but, if it's LNER, Seatfrog may offer a cheaper way of changing the time of the return journey.

Police officers can ask to see a person's rail ticket (to check they have a reason to be on rail premises), but they're not expected to judge its validity on a train and certainly NOT able to demand an £80 fine.

The Avanti Twitter feed has several people asking about travelling the day before.
The replies are typically "Yes, you can travel, but aim to do so around the time of your journey planned for the 12th".
So stick with your original travel times for Friday when travelling on Thursday.
