Off-board fare purchase on bus systems

Stagecoach Bluebird used to have a person selling tickets at the Ellon Park & Ride in the morning peak which vastly improved boarding times. I’m not sure if they still do these days though.

Craibstone gives you 36 hours maximum I believe.

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

I believe so, it certainly was the case when I did similar a few years ago. I’m just a casual bus user but with the exception of using them for going out for beers, I don’t think I’ll use it much as it’s just far too expensive for what is a very patchy service. I accept fare rises each year...

Service Updates Some news on fare updates coming at the end of the month. The new Aberdeen City Plus ticket seems a good idea. But some of the fare rises are absolutely eye watering, well in excess of 10% (such as a 12.4% increase for a return from where I am!), which will likely lead to me...

    First Aberdeen

Interesting, thanks. I do wonder where these five routes will be and if it will be First that run them.

    First Aberdeen

It’s been a couple of months since they stopped now but I wonder if anyone in the know has an idea of how well the free festive night buses were used?

    Beattock Landslip disruption (21/02)

I suppose the issues that will arise in the morning will be stock displacement. If the inbound services can’t arrive then it may cause a knock on for morning departures.

    Beattock Landslip disruption (21/02)

Not the news you want to read when you’ve got a 7am departure from Glasgow! Fingers crossed they can get the repairs done, which it looks like they are.

Where did the previous First open top buses go? I seem to remember Old Aberdeen, the beach, Union Street and Hazlehead Park but beyond that I can’t remember? I wonder if the new McGill’s will run a similar route or if they have other plans.

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

The PDFs were great, easy to read. Both the website and app are awful to use. I don’t think it will change either. I fully agree about the addition of a route map, but sadly I can’t see that happening either.

Agreed, it’s an awful system. I’ve fed it back to them before but received no feedback. I’m sure there’s logic to it somewhere…

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

That is my issue with it. At least with First (for example) they have a timetable page with them all listed, stagecoach require you to either use the journey planner or know the route number, you can’t just look at the whole timetable for, say, Aberdeen to Westhill without knowing it’s the 5/6...

Likewise, some timetables would have been handy. There is the personalised timetable generator but it is hideous to use and read. I don’t understand why Stagecoach make it so hard to view timetables!

    British Airways

Sums it up for me too. I’m away to book a trip to Madrid next year which would have been through BA holidays to maintain the status but as it’ll no longer earn anywhere near enough, it’s likely to be booked using as many Avios as possible to clear my balance and then I’m off to check out other...
