    Arriva Kent & Surrey

Sadly no one seems to have much info.

    Compass Travel

I’ve often seen these buses in Sussex, particularly East Sussex. Do Compass mainly do the council routes that Brighton and Hove presumably don’t want to do? It’s good to see an independent operator having a share in routes, does the company do a lot of routes around Sussex and Surrey? Anyone...

    Arriva Kent & Surrey

Anyone got any experience of Arriva Kent, either Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone? In terms of working there? Tunbridge Wells always seems to be looking for drivers

    What exactly did Thatcher do?

True. Council tax is unfair because I could be on benefits or have a low paid job , yet pay the same council tax as my neighbour who earns £200k a year. Council tax wasn’t better than poll tax. Sadly it isn’t based on an individuals earnings.

    Assault screens on buses

Absolutely correct. The screens at my place , sometimes fall straight down or sometimes don’t fix upwards. They all tend to vibrate and shake, with reflections or scratches on them making visibility poor.

    Labour's Plan for buses

The thing is , not everyone can use the bus. Some people work a long way from home, work late or very early in the morning, perhaps work somewhere which is quite remote. Public transport doesn’t work for everyone, we don’t all live or work in central London.

    London Buses Discussion

I used to drive in London for Stagecoach and this weekend I visited the area for the first time in a while. I had no idea about Superloop buses. I also drove the 269 a fair number of times and liked the route when Stagecoach ran it, but the last time I drove it was in 2016. Before I moved from...

Refusal to give up space for wheelchair

As I said , all a driver can do is request the buggy user vacates the wheelchair space. If they refuse all they can do is call Ibus ( in London ) or follow their companies procedures. Usually meaning a phone call to their control team.

    London Buses Discussion

In terms of the Superloop bus routes, have other routes had their frequencies reduced to facilitate this. A classic example is the Superloop 3 , which covers the 269 route, Bexleyheath to Bromley North. Has the 269 service had reductions?

Refusal to give up space for wheelchair

The driver can’t be expected to enforce that unless it’s a TFL rule which I believe it isn’t . You don’t know if the buggy folds or not, as a driver. When I worked in London, I don’t remember having a pushchair refuse to move for a wheelchair. But if they did I would politely use the...

    Longest line of sight (UK)

Yesterday I was in on the M25 , going south from Dartford. If I looked to my right I could see London and the Crystal Palace transmitter in the distance. On my left I could see in the distance , another transmitter, that I think was the Wrotham transmitter, which is just off the M20. Further...

    Bus fare cap beyond election

Worth bearing in mind that there will probably be a general election in spring next year. Maybe May? If Labour do win , I wonder what their ideas for the bus industry will be and what will happen to the £2 cap being June.

    Bus fare cap beyond election

I’m now back working for a national operator. People have been used to paying the £2 for some time now. I don’t think they can go back to the days of paying £4 or £5 for a single journey anymore. If this was to happen I’m sure most operators would be knocking on the doors of the government...

    Demand Responsive Transport

I don’t think DRT is worth the cost. It sounds to me that that they are just providing a cheap taxi service for people in rural areas, many of whom probably have their own car. But it’s way cheaper than a taxi and probably cheaper than using their own car , so they book DRT. I mean for £2 quid...
