Hi all
can anyone confirm the current location of the standard gauge industrial garratt 6841 William Francis.
I know it was at Bressingham, but it doesn't seem to be on their website now?
Another option would be to create more paths by running direct from Rotherham to Sheffield by the freight line and Nunnery Curve.
Of course this would mean missing Meadowhall which has developed into a parkway station for Sheffield and Rotherham and would be unattrcative to TPE.
I'll have a go...
How long would it have taken from London to Florence?
probably 48 hours, affluent travellers are likely to have stayed overnight in hotels along the route.
Would it have been from Charing Cross to The Leopolda stations?
Charing cross would have been an option, but 1870...
OK
so if I understand the contributions to this thread, building an HST that could run off OHLE isn't possible because of the complexity of a transformer to convert the power to DC for the traction motors.
So.... would it be possible to have an electro diesel hst that could pick up from...
You are quite right that the workplace parking levy would not be used to fund tram extensions outside of Nottingham city, but not quite as right in saying that the tram goes into the county.
The new tram lines stay within Nottingham City not the county (although the line between wilford and...

At then of Rivergreen
Just south of the Clifton Cornerstone

There is an information evening for clifton residents at the cornerstone on the 8th March 5:30...

At the moment the fastest trains are 99minutes from Nottingham ( 7:50) and 92 minutes from Derby, as the distances are pretty much the same it does seem that modest line speed improvements as well as the Nottingham area resignalling (next summer?) could deliver 90 minutes to both.
another reason why this would be a dangerous thing to implement is that a timer could only give you the time before a single train has cleared the crossing.
If a second train in the other direction strikes in before the first train has cleared then the timer would be counting down to zero...
I travelled on them in 2002 so Im happy to know they are still in use, even if not with DB.
The ride was noticably smoother than other sleepers that I have been in, and the cabins were roomy.
The signallers were enticed by a shorter working day (6 hour shift - quite an incentive in victorian times) and by a wage supplement of I think 2and 6 a week.
But few stuck it for more than a couple of years.
