If I were NR and/ or the local council I wld be pushing for the closure of this crossing as a matter of urgency. There is a perfectly safe route via Yarnton La to the South which only adds 800m to the journey and completely removes the risk (assuming the old fella doesnt crash thru the bridge...
I agree - good film - must have taken weeks to edit all the green screen sections into the backgrounds correctly - no way a lot of the stunts in that film (which is basically an advert for the bike) were filmed for real.
"There is a belief that she was buried between platforms 9 and 10 in King's Cross station in London, England. There is no evidence for this and it is probably a post World War II invention"
IMHO pretty much every £ spent on facilities for the disabled is a waste of money. For whatever reason(s) - real or imagined - the lesser mobile section of society are not attracted by the service offered by The Railway. Since Jan 2012 I have been travelling to work by train in Birmingham - so...
The pedantry in general on this forum, not just this thread, has to be seen to be believed - post anything that you can't back up with evidence from abt 100 sources or contains the slightest error and 'they' are all over yr thread like a rash, pointing out where you went wrong.
But what do...

Slight cheat as not part of the network since the 1960's (but people have been suggesting sidings which probably haven't been in use since that time as well)
I give the original insitu rails of the Cromford and High Peak Railway 1825!
Most 'retired' rails turning up in scrap dealers yards are 'inside jobs' by Network Rail workers.
Scenario goes like this: do a job; cut the scrap rail into HIAB manageable lengths and then leave it somewhere accessible on the trackside; return later with HIAB and remove rail; take rail to...
Disappointing ...but not surprising.
RE the OP's original idea abt socialising on trains... its a non starter. People dont want to speak to strangers on trains - mp3 players have killed that idea stone dead.
Blindtraveler - with nearly 2000 posts on this site surely you shd have been aware of the levels of pedantry the thread wld decend to? A lot of the more knowledgeable posters on here have great info but too many people spend time arguing abt things like whether its legal to transport sheep over...
"Train Manager"? - I presume you mean the ticket inspector/ salesman?
Its just like binmen being called 'environmental executives'
And to answer the question - how many £50 notes wld it take to gt me on the track? One - just the one (actually I wld probably go on the track for a £5)...
I think the trouble is that most people perceive a BTP Officer as being somewhere between a park keeper and a traffic warden in terms of their available authority - now we all know that is not the case and they have the same powers as the 'normal' Police. Some fotogs generally seem to believe...
