Not enough to make this stress worth it in short! I've learnt my lesson!
If you're thinking of doing it, or are currently doing it and haven't been caught yet. Stop, they will get you. Prosecutor said on the phone that they're catching more and more people doing what I'm doing and are beginning...
Setting out of court for over £1000, happy to pay it to put all of this behind me.
If anybody has any questions about the process I'm happy to answer.
My first tip is- don't skip train fares. They WILL catch you eventually.
Update-
Just had somebody from the prosecution office phone me with a view to settling, been told to phone back Tuesday to get it sorted.
Was reminded to be honest about everything otherwise they will refuse to settle.
I'd say it is more so than a letter (which they don't send signed for/tracked). Royal Mail are hardly the most reliable company.
Also I work with barristers and solicitors, 99% of correspondence is via email.
Alas, still waiting for a phone call.
After some very aggrevated tweeting I have been asked to give my phone number so the prosecutions team can be in touch. The number provided on the court summons doesn't work.
The fact there isn't an email address you can use in 2019 is absolutely absurd.
I'm aware of this, I'm just hoping I can get a CD seeing as they have written to me and said they are prosecuting me over the evaded fare of £6.60. Who knows what will happen though! If I get a letter back I will post it on here, if not I will be sure to post the outcome of my court hearing.
The fine doesn't phase me, it's obviously not ideal but I'm willing to accept it as a consequence of my own stupidity and arrogance. The thing I am most worried about is the criminal record, I am going to try and see if I can have it downgraded to a Conditional Discharge so it doesnt appear on...
Thank you for this, very helpful.
Hopefully they end up agreeing to settle anyway. If they don't does anybody know if I once I plead guilty I am issued with the fine on the day? Or will I have to go back?
I've written to them again asking to settle out of court, offering to pay whatever they need me to.
Failing that I will attend court and plead guilty and hope the fine is manageable. I will post all further updates here.
Just received my summons through.
They're going after me for evading a fare of £6.60 + Prosecution costs of £135. Is there a fine on top of this?
I also finally have a contact number for the SouthEastern prosecution office and will be phoning them at lunch to try and negotiate an out of court...
Slight update to this, I'm going away on holiday for 2 weeks as of Wednesday and spent about 3 hours yesterday going round in circles trying to speak to somebody in the Southeastern Prosecutions Office to inform them of this, only to be told that the ONLY way to contact them is by post (which...
