West Coast Partnership: Awarded to First Trenitalia

Well said, and in any case people will have to adapt and make the most of whatever First eventually offer. Although more discount advances would be great)

"Timetable's changing. You can't have one."

That seems to contradict itself. Unless the inference is that they have just been outright thrown away. Which does seem a bit thoughtless from Preston staff. ...As if Sir Richard Branson had been overcome with some evil plight to come and take all the timetables... <D<D<D (I am joking by the...

"Timetable's changing. You can't have one."

The OP said it was weird. Did he ask the staff if they had one available behind the counter? It should have been offered. Nonetheless, to me, paper timetables are for the fun adventures; those days out by train. Any other time I wouldn't ordinarily bother. For most journey's, I usually know...

Has National Express scaled back its services?

Having seen the size of the old "Guide book" reduce, I can see why it to my knowledge became individual sheets in a lever arch file rather than a useful A4 ish size publication. I don't know if this trend has continued, however.

That station renovation will actually be an improvement

Are the class 88's the last locomotives we will see built?

I was speaking generally rather than in reference to specific types, although FAA intermodals come to mind. Good points.

Are the class 88's the last locomotives we will see built?

Like DMU's, it would be more efficient surely to have powered wagons? Could see longer/fewer trains and increase network capacity.

Trivia: Appalling stations next to better stations

Manchester Piccadilly and Oxford Road. I had to get a train at Oxford Road once in the evening peak and it was just bedlam.

Plans for Coventry driverless light railway

I believe Coventry is just speculation. Currently TfWM are planning to extend to Birmingham Interchange. Anything further is unplanned and would be a seperate project if it ever materialises.

Plans for Coventry driverless light railway

Living in Coventry I can say that as exciting as a project like this is I don't expect it to come to fruition. Could however be cheaper than a conventional tramway.

Trivia: Appalling stations next to better stations

I imply that you are saying that Moor Street is better?

    Byelaw 6.8 query

It would be the applicable byelaw in question, yes. I was thinking along the same lines thanks.

    Byelaw 6.8 query

I've been thinking about this byelaw; No person shall molest or wilfully interfere with the comfort or convenience of any person on the railway. I'm presuming a successful prosecution must have been secured using it since the Transport Act came into force and wondered where I would find...

Preston Railway Station Branded As Outdated And Inadequate

I've never found Preston Station itself too bad to use. Minus the terrible underpass between platforms which is a health and safety hazard (Slippy uneven floor when wet, helppoints that don't work, lack of lighting). Old storage cupboards left open/unlocked etc. The main flooring down from the...
