Sounds a very good trip North if a little cold. Got to say I'm a little envious that you managed to do Sunnyside Loop on the Sleeper. Shame the lounge shut so soon after leaving Crewe. When i last did it from Crewe North about 15 years ago it seemed that they would keep serving until we went to...
Sunnyside Junction - Whifflet South Junction is in use by the Fort William sleeper in both directions from January 29th to February 1st. I can't say I remember this line in use by a scheduled passenger train before. If you can combine it with some business in Glasgow might be a good one to go...
Thanks for mentioning this service. I need to travel on the line from Sheffield to Rotherham via Tinsley. There is a late Cross Country train from Plymouth to Leeds which uses this. Potentially I could then catch a Transpennine to York and then 01.38 to Manchester Airport, back on same train to...
Could anyone advise where the following Class 156's are currently based?
156445
156494
156498
Many thanks. They are the last class 156's I need for sight.

Gas Factory Junction - Bow Junction near Stratford, London

Well done on completing all this unusual track recently. You certainly seem to have been busy. I missed you by two hours on Sunday. I was doing Gas Factory Junction to Bow Junction and was at Stratford at about 1pm.
One for the future is Lifford East Junction - Lifford West Junction near...
I've still been reading your trip reports over the past year or two without commenting. They are always very interesting. That last trip sounded very good especiallythe people watching side of things. Well done for completing so many platforms. I've yet to do the Ilford Down Passenger Avoider...
Sorry to disagree with childwallblues but 142's were regulars on Llandudno - Manchester services occasionally coupled to a Class 150 when first introduced. I forget where the Llandudno services used to go to back then. Services often changed and weren't quite as clockface as now. Certainly some...
I don't think 175109 is at Crewe ETD for Tyre Turning. The lathe has been out of action for at least a couple of months. TfW units are being sent to Canton for tyre turning. DB engines are being sent to Toton for Tyre Turning.
