Mine also didn't say anything about short listing, it was quite definitive that the next stage for me was the DMI. I had passed the driver assessments previously, so the last stage I've done with FTPE was the phone interview. I will contact them later this afternoon if I don't receive an e-mail.

As the other posters have said, it would not be possible to come directly over to the UK to work as a train driver. A train company would have to sponsor you on a Tier 2 visa, which they won't do. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't do that because a train driver job isn't on the shortage...

I have not heard anything further. I have more or less accepted that this isn't going to happen, it would just be nice to be told definitively one way or the other.

Was that for FTPE? Last year it was 3-4 people a day for about two weeks. Everyone did the computer tests in the morning and then if you met the required standard the MMI's were in the afternoon. There was only one assessor so they could only take a small number of people each day in case...
