Hi,

Went through Peterborough on the train yesterday and there seems to be alot of activity in the yard at eastfields (just north of the station).

Anybody got any info- something new or just ripping up the sidings?

Cheers

Thanks for that, this scheme may well cover the sidings area and they need tidying up, would be interesting to see the overall layout, it seems that they are installing a station avoider for freight.

Another reason i raised this issue/thread that there was talk of a new depot opening at Peterborough and Doncaster for train maintenance but i cannot seem to find anymore information out about this. Maybe just a rumour.

Also perhaps there going to move the FCC sidings from the south to the north side as most FCC trains leave from platform 2.

There's always been a station avoider as such it's called the two way goods which runs behind platform 5 and evently platform 7 when the new platforms are built.

Looks suspiciously like a TPE 185 on platform 4 and a FGW HST on the peterborough page. Network Rail know something they are not telling us?...

There was an isolation in the Nene sidings meaning stock had to berth in Peterborough station overnight. This ment that there were some reversing moves using Eastfields sidings which FCC trains at least do not usually use.

Eastfield is used more than you think. 3 trains of the Nene in the moring are booked into there and 2 trains in the eveing are booked into there.

Eastfields is normally used to shunt across to/from the nene when they can't get a path via P78 signal which is the shunt Dodd on the down fast line. But only peterbourgh based drivers sign eastfields so they are limited as to which trains can run via there as hitchin and London drivers only sign the nene at present.

As far as FCC are concerned, there are only two booked workings via Eastfields (XPQ) which are 5P53 at 07:19 from XPN-PBO via XPQ and 5P81 at 18:25 which is PBO to PBO via XPQ. Both are 2 x 365 and both must be worked by PBO drivers.

That's not right.
3P50 0526 XPN-XPQ is booked to wait on the down departures for 3P50 0546 XPN-PBO via XPQ to couple up to and form a 12 car 321. 5P64 0656 XPN-PBO via XPQ is booked on the down departures whilst 5P53 0706 XPN-PBO via XPQ is booked to reverse on the up departures

You then have 5P81 1822 PBO-PBO via XPQ and 5P25 1945 PBO-XPN via XPQ booked to sit on the down departures.

All worked by Peterborough drivers of course.
