Does anybody know of any special working for the Grand National into Liverpool this year? I know EMT have previously ran a 222 into Lime St.

Merseyrails additional service offering - During race days there will be an additional 7 and a half minute service running before and after the races (all additional services will not stop at Orrell Park, Walton and Kirkdale in both directions).

Also, the MtoGo stores will be selling beauty products for race-goers who somehow forgot to put their makeup on their faces before setting out!!!

Wonder if they might consider selling (imitation) fur coats and woollen scarves to some of the under-dressed ladies who inevitably arrive in Liverpool on race days - that this year could be freezing cold if current weather predictions are correct. (Below average temperatures likely for at least the next month....)

I'm working the Ormskirk line Friday (ladies day). Knowing the ladies of Liverpool, they will brave the weather without the fur coats. I know I'll be wrapped up warm ;) but at least I'm off on Holiday on 11th to the scorching hot Las Vegas :D

I'd like to see the pretendolino run into Liverpool, but itl probably be hampered with DVT issues.

Its come round again so quickly. The VSOE fare of over £600 sounds alot but we have all paid £120 each just for admission to the Lord Sefton stand & that doesnt even include a free pint or a racecard.

Doesn't look like it's running, as nothing has been put into the system for it. It usually runs as a 1TXX or 1ZXX from Nottingham, with the Norwich part terminating/starting at Nottingham, but all services are running to/from Peterborough as normal(expect for engineering works)

TPE are running extra service later in the Evening. On Thursday 21:31 Liverpool LS-Manchester Victoria calling at NLW and 23:10 Liverpool LS-Manchester Piccadilly calling at Warrington Central. On Friday 21:31/23:13 Liverpool LS-Manchester Victoria calling at NLW and Saturday 21:30/23:07 Liverpool LS-Manchester Piccadilly calling at Warrington and Oxford Rd. Northern also have a few extra services in the late evening

I'd bet good money on EMT putting on much longer trains.

Now most services on the route are 2x158 (320 seats) they may not bother. A 7 car 222 is only 20 seats more?

On the two busiest services we have 640 Cl158 seats vs in previous years a 222 and a 158 combined total of 500 seats. Is my maths way out? Or were the 158s on the route strengthened in previous years for the event?

320 seats per 4 car service, that 80 seat per carriage It's more like 250-270 seats which means that a 222 will have almost 50-70 extra seat plus lots more standing room.

In the past they've already put an announcement on their website but this year they haven't.

On Saturdays only 11 out of 16 departures from Lime Street are booked for 2 x158s compared to 14 out of 15 departures on weekdays.

What with the line between Peterborough and March being closed all weekend, and bustitution for EMT east of PBO, I'd have assumed that a couple of extra 158s would have been freed up to strengthen services west of Nottingham. Unless they were left in Norwich all weekend?

I saw 158777 operating on the Crewe-Derby run, not strengthening any Liverpool services
