Hi all, appologies if this has already been covered or mentioned before, but I'm thinking of getting a new computer as mine is getting old and the trainsim game isn't good at all on here, very jerky and slow, so what sort of specs will i need for the game and the add ons , which i belive will be very big in memory size too, for the game to run smoothly, with plenty of space for the add ons etc that will be accumilated, oh and can anyone suggest / reccommend a computer that is suitable for the game.

As you can see computer knowledge isnt my strong point so you might have to speak slow and avoid long words too me too.

Thanks for all your help in advance
Andrew

Firstly, I'd suggest building your own. However, if you don't feel confident doing that then you can buy custom pre-built models that aren't too expensive.

How much are you looking to spend at a maximum?

Definitely, I think I spent £500-600 or so on Motherboard, CPU, (had ram sitting around), and graphics card and it dwarves anything I throw at it, it runs TS2014 on the highest settings without a problem.

How confident are you at building your self? It really isn't difficult, provided you are careful with things like static. It's mainly screws, which are obvious where they go, and plugging things in the right slot (9/10, they will only go in one slot anyway!!)

Then installing windows is a million times easier than it used to be, as most drivers come with the newer windows these days. (Not necessarily the latest though!, but enough to get it up and running)

But saying that, I don't think you will struggle to get a good pc for that money.

If you want to go to the top end of your budget (£799), then this will blitz TS2014 with no problem.

Intel Core I5 4670K Processor
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Memory
120GB SSD Drive
2TB SATA Hard Drive
NVIDIA GTX 650Ti 1GB Graphics Card
22x DVD Writer
Novatech PowerStation 500W PSU (non Modular)
Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Motherboard
Novatech Wired Keyboard
Novatech Wired USB Optical Mouse
PC-1842

http://m.novatech.co.uk/pc/range/novatechblacknti93.html

If anything, it's probably a bit overkill. You could
Probably pick anything off this list and it would be fine. http://m.novatech.co.uk/pc/gaming/

Novatech are good, I use them for most stuff, shop around for gaming pcs though, see what you can get on other sites.

That is actually £880, as OP will likely need an OS installed.

For £810, you could head over to DinoPC and get the following, it's a custom build but they build it for you so it costs a bit more than building it yourself but they will also have good cable management etc.

Here are the specs I've chosen for you and they should have no trouble with Train Sim.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS5X Performa
Operating System: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Motherboard: DEAL! Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz (1x8GB)
Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
Case: NEW! Zalman Z3
PSU: 650W Corsair VS
Warranty: 3 Year SureCare Warranty

You can select these parts for your build here

If you buy pre-built models like that you will be spending a lot more than you should. That system is only worth about £350 if it was custom built! I think the main problem is future proofing your system, right now it will run at medium settings with a good steady framerate. However, you may spend that £500 now, but in 3 or 4 years it's really not good enough to run the game, spend a bit more and it will last a lot longer.

If you want me to, I can create an account on DinoPC using your email address (PM me) and a random password - you can then change it, then save the build for you to then just have to click 'Buy'. If you want to do that, feel free to PM me.

Also, will you be needing a mouse/keyboard/monitor/speakers or just the actual PC tower? If you need them are they included in your £800 spend?
