Hi

I was planning on visiting Ian Allan at Waterloo this morning to buy a copy of "British Rail Designed 1948-1997" by David Lawrence but its out of stock. Amazon don't have it either. Does anyone know of anything similar? Also does anyone have a copy of the British Rail Corporate Identity manual? They want £75 for it!! Is it worth it?

Thanks

Alex

There's an earlier book "British Rail 1948-78 - A Journey by Design", by Brian Haresnape (published 1979 by Ian Allan, ISBN 0 7110 0982 1). This book includes a few extracts from the BR Corporate Identity Manual, which appears to be a large volume, which may explain the price?

I've been hunting for a copy of this for a long time, but it seems to be pretty rare.

I've been hunting for a copy of this {British Rail 1948-76 - a Journey by Design} for a long time, but it seems to be pretty rare.
Several of the specialist bookshops may be worth trying - Robert Humm at Stamford and Bill Hudson at Matlock come to mind. Or several others listed in the railway magazine adverts.

You can get the 1948-1983 version on Amazon for £20 but if you want to really splash cash, you can get a reproduction British Rail corporate identity manual for 75 beer vouchers. https://britishrailmanual.com/
