Hi there
Unfortunately we do not have those locomotives here but your experience would be very useful.
Welcome to the forums, this is a great place to start to find a rail related job.
Our class 66 has very similar controls to G22 with pins and such. I hope you find what you are looking for :)

Unfortunately, as with every foreign qualified applicant, as helpful as your previous experience may be in securing a job, your qualification wouldn't be recognised and you would have to apply for a trainee job. You will also need to have the right to work in the UK as companies as a rule don't sponsor visas.

Hello

I'm in a similar situation as ClassocRail, but I live in Finland. I've got over a year of experience as a train driver. I couldn't find any job offers in the UK, at least not for foreigners.

You will need to apply for trainee driver vacancies as your Finnish qualification doesn't carry over to the UK. Be aware that train driving in the UK is a much sought after role attracting thousands of applicants.

You would stand a very good chance of getting a trainee driver job* by evidencing your experience i'm sure.

*Subject to visa requirements obviously!

For the original poster it would be difficult although for the person from Finland you might find it easier now they are rolling out the European Driving Licence although not sure what will come of it due to Brexit

Only thing you could do is speak to careers departments and if they won't recognise your qualification (which they might not due to the slight differences in operations) then put in for a trainee role as they will still recognise your experience, just means having a year of learning again.
