I wish to retract this statement, as LNW seem to be putting 350/2s on the Birmingham fasts now, and this is not fine
They turn up everywhere. Plenty have always been on Trent Valley and Birmingham fasts both booked and covering for /1s and 3s. The only difference now is that a /2 can at least stick to time.

350/2 operation on Birmingham to Liverpool seems to have become more common lately.
If it was 1 in 3 before, it seems to be 2 in 3 now (ie more often than not).
Not good for a pretend "inter city" service.
The Crewe-Trent Valley units seem more reliably to be 350/1 or /3.

What is wrong with using 350/2s to Birmingham?

They're designed as commuter trains, but they're being used on long distance inter-regional services. Its frustrating to see them turning up on the Liverpools and the Crewe/Londons when you also see 350/1s and 350/3s with a proper, comfortable seating layout tootling around on the West Midlands local stopping services.

There is one diagram for a 1 or 3 on the Wolves-Walsall, it comes from Crewe after working 1u99 the night before. It's probably to balance miles but it's very frustrating when you're working a stroke 2 full of people with laptops a d coffees resting on their knee for 2 hours whilst a nice /3 Is trundling round Brum all day.
