It has been posted to the GWR JourneyCheck page that Dilton Marsh station is closed due to safety reasons relating to the platforms.

Passengers south are advised to change at Westbury for rail replacement transport. Passengers from Warminster are asked to circulate via Westbury.

Does anybody have any more information? It just be pretty drastic to close a station temporarily. Due to the location of the platforms, I would guess something structural related (i.e foundations)

Unclear what is going on but I understand the station will be closed again tomorrow.

Thanks for the info. Haven’t the platforms been recently extended too?

I seem to recall that some years ago, Dilton Marsh had metal platforms, which went "walkabout"! It was believed to follow a visit by members of an alternative life style group, can anyone confirm?

The platforms have recently been rebuilt and their lengths have been extended from 15 metres to 30 metres. In the 80s/90s, the original wooden platforms were replaced with aluminium panels. These were 'removed' one night and undoubtably traded in for their scrap value by some local dodgy dealers! The platforms were then rebuilt out of wood.

Definitely stopped there this afternoon. Platform did seem bigger than I remembered.
