Hello,

Just wondering how the regional allowance system works. Do all stations get a regional allowance? How much does it range from? Is it based on all built-up urban areas or just cities like London?

Edit: And are they the same for all roles (Customer ambassador, guard, driver and so on?)

Thanks!

Im based out of Waterloo and I get around £2100 a year, which personally I think is a bit low when you think theres drivers from much further down the line getting just that much less a year but have a lot lower cost of living!

It varies from (roughly) £400 to £2,000. As has been said, the £2,100 is inner London so that’s out as far as Staines/ these days I believe, depending on line of route you’re based on. It’s about £1,000 down as far as Guildford/Windsor or there about a, and £400 any further south so the south coast basically (plus round toward Salisbury).

As far as Strawberry Hill, Staines is outer.

I’m kicking myself because I know that really haha. We had a depot at Staines a few years ago, which moved from Richmond, and I recall the staff there keeping their inner London allowance because Richmond has it but Staines doesn’t.

Should've asked in the question, but is the regional allowance the same for all roles from customer ambassador to driver?

Yes. Apart from management grades, as they don’t any form of regional allowances.
