VT Seat Sale fares are now on fare list. Seat Sale soon?

Is there a Virgin Trains Seat Sale about to begin soon? I've been searching for some journeys today and I've noticed some Standard Sale and First Sale fares both routed VT Only appearing in the fares list on their own booking engine.

At the moment there is no availability for those sale fares but I am wondering why they have been uploaded into the system.

When VT have had seat sales before do they give the sale discount ON TOP OF a railcard discount?

If anyone knows anything about this please let me know as I can hold off booking perhaps. In the mean time I have signed up to their emails.

Hi, the only thing I can help with here is that, in my experience, Virgin Trains does not give Railcard discounts on top of Seat Sale fare prices.

So to their sale discounts exceed that of the railcard discount? i.e. is it better for a railcard holder to just book when they know they want to travel rather then waiting for the sale?

Or perhaps a better way of putting it is this: when a sale is on, do railcard holders get better value just using their railcard as normal or do their sales offer MASSIVE discounts whereby its best not using the railcard?

Coventry to Euston in 1st during a weekday was 17 quid e/w last year. That's a massive discount in my mind.

Whenever I've used a Virgin Seat Sale ticket, it has given a lower fare than a normal advance ticket, with Railcard. The annoying thing was, when I lived in Essex, that it was not possible to book any through ticket to a Virgin destination, meaning having to book Off-peak returns into London, and combine them with the seat sale tickets, for the whole journey. It would probably be the same if I was booking a journey now including a Virgin service from Liverpool Lime Street.

Last year I made a few 'seat sale' trips from New St to Euston and back. First Class was £17, which was far cheaper than with my Senior Railcard. However coming back in the evening (standard class) was cheaper with the railcard (£4.80 v £5).

Does anyone know why these fares have been listed in the fares list online? Sale Standard and Sale First. Is it because there is/might be a sale pending?
