I think it means:

All except one train will be:
Longer than normal,
Full-length 12 carriage services.

Badly worded but I think they mean every train will be 12 carriages, which is longer than normal.

Not every service will be longer than 12 carriages, which is almost certainly impossible as you said!

They have been asking for people to work extra. They have the trains, but will they have anyone to run them?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I am sure the problem last year was actually getting passengers on the trains, not the number of trains that were running or the length of them.
I seem to remember it being reported that the station was closed by the police over safety concerns, with a lot of trains departing pretty much empty.

The problem is last year was a new style of pride, with a 'big' name star. Normally at Pride, folks leave in drips and drabs as the night wares on, so you get a steady stream of folks heading to the station. Last year, due to Brittany, they all mainly stayed until the end, and then left on mass. The park was even congratulating it's self for having cleared everyone out in almost record time. Great, yes, they all trooped down London rd and arrived all as one mass. Then someone got worried and ordered the station to be locked.*
This year it's Kylie. Will lessons have been learnt????

*unable to say who, but possibly not folks in green.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
The cynic in me suggests a repetition of last year. Not sure who is more popular, Kylie or Britney - but clearly, Brighton station can't handle masses and masses of people and from what I remember, Preston Park has narrow entrances/subways to the platforms and this was closed for safety reasons too

And of course, if this heatwave continues, the beach-seekers will also be down in their droves ...

Hope the aircon holds up on the trains...

If Cardiff can do it with 2-8car trains(millennium stadium) then surely Brighton can with 12 car emu’s! (Comment based on the numbers quoted in the bbc article quoted above) but I guess Cardiff are more used to it

Well Brighton can handle the footex crowds to/from the Amex stadium a few miles up the road but guess it's not as big as Cardiff and the Pride (and other seaside visitors/tourists) far outnumber the footex crowds by a huge magnitude

Brighton station can't handle masses and masses of people

The station doesn't need to handle masses and masses of people (at the same time) as long as the crowds are marshalled properly before they reach the station. I realise the approaches to the station are not great but, with some judicious closure of roads to traffic (commonly practised elsewhere when large crowds are going to travel), it should not be beyond the wit of man to implement an effective queuing system.

The GTR press release says: “An enhanced “rainbow” queuing system will channel passengers leaving the city into the appropriate queue for their train before they get to the station.”

Oh, Kylie.

Who even is Britney?

Think both are a bit middle-of-the-road now, to be honest.

Bets on for how long it takes for "this train is formed of 8 coaches instead of 12. This is due to additional maintenance requirements" to crop up...

If you take a look at the "Train Service Updates" for today, it reckons tonights 1724 Eastbourne - Victoria is "full and standing from Haywards Heath." Guess Nostradamus figured out how to time travel and is alive and well working for Southern...

Do Southern re-use headcodes part way through the day? I've seen errors before where the wrong service is shown as delayed/cancelled because the wrong service was edited.
