Hi there
I'm still quite new to this forum.
Does anyone know the time scale Northern Rail take to get back to you after submitting a job application?
I recently applied for one of the apprenticeships which I note are still advertised and have been on their vacancy board now for several weeks.
Quite a few other jobs seem to come and go off their vacancy board quite quickly such as the trainee driver roles which I assume are very popular and recieve many applicants. I believe they can get over 100 applicants for the trainee train driver jobs as they are extremely sought after.
I've noted Northern Rail are recruiting a conductor to work out of Manchester Victoria which seems like a good opportunity. The vacancy only appeared on Wednesday. I spoke to a former police colleague a couple of weeks ago who worked as a PCSO for many years and he now works as a conductor for Northern. He said the conductor role is probably one of the best jobs to go for. I think he is aiming to become a driver in the future but he said being a conductor is a great way of building up experience and certainly one that will establish yourself with the bosses and the recruitment people.
Anyone got any views on this? I'd appreciate some advice and tips.
