I’m constantly looking but haven’t seen any adverts for ages.
I failed first time around with TFW and 6 months wait is up for me on 28th August so I keep looking daily to re apply.. but then thought maybe everyone’s in the same boat so it would possibly be good for everyone to share the adverts they find for trainee driver vacancies in this thread..? Just a thought anyway as I’m sure more people than myself are in the same boat. I’m in the north west so a station within 1 hours commute, there’s quite a few Ie Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe, Chester plus many smaller ones too.

Sorry to hear you failed the first time but it’s a good thing your 6 month wait is up.

I would start by checking TOCs websites that are near you, and also check this forum daily as usually as soon as a vacancy is found it is posted here with an individual thread for that specific vacancy.

All the best.

Thanks OneLowban for your kind words. Been on here a year now, very helpful forum!
Thought there might be a chance I may miss a job advert if I’m not looking in the right place or at the right time, as the adverts don’t stay up long do they, as it’s such a popular job for people!

I’m expecting a long wait but at least I know where I went wrong last time and hopefully I’ll pass next time

I would seriously check each TOC’s website daily. When the job comes, apply straightaway. Too many applicants and the job can be pulled early. You could use another TOC’s questions to build your own answers in Word to copy and paste when the job comes live.

It needs to become an obsession, Check multiple times a day. Bare in mind that some TOCs have a 45 minute from depot requirement (Northern) that's not 45 minutes at 3am it's peak traffic or when ever the employing manager checks Google maps. So do try to be under it. generally vacancies get posted on here as you may have seen so no need for an individual thread.

No worries glad you found the forum useful.

As below I would say check websites and this forum once in the morning and once in the afternoon/evening so you won’t miss anything.

I would say sign up for job alerts too but I signed up to all of them and received exactly 0 so I wouldn’t rely on them.

It took months of checking every day until the vacancy I was hoping for came up with the TOC I’m due to start with in a few weeks time. I kept all ( there isn’t many mind you ) local TOC, FOC career pages open in my internet browser tabs, and just kept refreshing them every day in hope that a vacancy becomes available. But be prepared to drop everything and apply immediately, I was in the middle of a family get together when I checked my browser... there it was!!! I took myself away for a couple of hours, and made myself unsociable whilst I applied! Boy I’m glad I did lol!!!!!

The role I'm assessing for currently I got when I randomly checked online while on holiday and it was there and available. I spent about six hours typing an application on my phone which kept timing out and deleting everything while my family had fun on the Welsh coast.
Set up a bunch of alerts, but also check regularly, both on the TOC's careers page and here, it will pop up. If you can, try and find out what your TOC's application form is like and pre write your answers. There's nothing worse than completing an application form, and then sending it, finding out the position closed while you were applying.

I applied for Freightliner after seeing this thread back in July/Aug last year. I too dropped everything and applied as soon as I saw the thread and went in the website. It was a pretty painless process and involved nothing more than putting my personal details on their form. I then received an SJT to do and did this instantly pretty much.

It’s a long road and you will invariably get setbacks and rejections along the way, even before being invited to assessment centres. It feels like a lot longer, but my journey took me to Crewe for assessment centres twice (of which I only had to sit one or two assessments as I already had pass marks which were valid), two further applications processes with different TOCs/FOCs and three DMIs. I got there in the end and am now mid way through my rules with GWR.

As has been said, keep checking TOC or FOC websites daily and keep an eye on threads at this forum which will often pop up too.

Good luck!

Thanks all.
I’m checking TFW frequently, I had overlooked the other possible TOC’s so I’m going to compile a list and leave them open on my phone browser so I can refresh a few times daily so as not to miss an opportunity

I’m only 34 so plenty of time on my side
