Morning,

I am going to Amsterdam later this month and I am going to use my FIP/PRIV passes.

I've never used a FIP card before and from what I gather, I can get a coupon for the ship between Harwich and Hoek Van Holland.

How does this work? Do I present the coupon at the ferry ports?

I understand you can also get coupons/FIP Rates for journeys on NS but not on the bus link from Hoek Van Holland/Rotterdam Central Station.

You'll need to speak to Stena Line to pay port tax, and book a cabin if you're on a night sailing, but other than that aye it's just a case of presenting your coupon. No FIP available on the connecting transport from Hoek.

If you're not pressed for time, and the weather's okay, I'd recommend taking a walk up the coast from Hoek to Den Haag. It's a few hours, so probably only one for if you've been on the night sailing, but there's some lovely sandy beaches and a few little cafes by the sea, and you can see the wartime bunkers in the sand dunes which have been reclaimed by bats as a habitat.

I recently travelled from Hoek to Harwich with a FIP coupon. All I was asked for was my booking reference & passport.

In my trips from Harwich to Hoek I've always been asked for my coupons.

If you want a place in the Metropolitan Restaurant do that when you make the booking to guarantee your place. The restaurant was fully booked when I travelled last.
