Hi all,

I travel between Edinburgh and Newcastle a few times per month. There used to be an LNER-only off peak return priced the same as the XC-only ticket (£44.15) but it seems to have disappeared and the only off-peak return option is £56.10.

Do I need to do some sort of trickery to find the LNER-only fare or were they just a short time offer? I last booked one at the end of August.

Edit: travel details are 23/9/19 dep EDB around 1400, and return NCL 23/9/19 at 2155.

These were temporary fares as lner are the fare setter for this flow they aren't allowed to set permanent dedicated fares.

Ah, I'll just have to take advantage of the lower cost when I can as I much prefer LNER to XC and the service is also more frequent.

If you’re still travelling in mid December I’d expect the newly extended TPE Liverpool - Edinburgh service might be a probable source of lower cost operator specific fares, and they’ll be using the same trains as LNER, although the 5 car version.
