They are, yes.

Parks run a number of journeys on behalf of Scottish Citylink, similar to other contractors, but do actually run co-ordinated journeys as part of their City2City network on their own back. There are different fares from their Citylink operated journeys and such like. This is a hangover from the Joint Venture competition investigation following the agreement between Stagecoach and ComfortDelgro after the bloody competition following the launch of Megabus. So as such, Parks journeys (marked as operated on the Citylink timetables) are independent of the other journeys.

What a mess that sounds. That would be like Selwyns running extra Liverpool to Leeds trips on the 060 off their own back and not using the NatEx name for those trips. It would confuse the heck out of people.

I will take a look into it and try to work it out. Thanks for the details.

That’s what happens when you allow civil servants and politicians to interfere in an industry that they know nothing about!

The coaches wear full Scottish Citylink livery, but carry Parks of Hamilton fleetnames and logos and carry no external reference to Citylink.

Anyone aware of this company? I just happened to come across them on Google. They seem to offer a similar service to the John McGinley one mentioned earlier.

https://busfeda.ie/donegal-glasgow

It is the same service, it is run jointly with McGinley and a third Donegal operator Doherty's Travel.

They all used to run the cross-channel part on a rotation of some sort with more than one coach at busy periods with connections to the various Donegal areas they serve.

I am not sure exactly how it runs now, I can only assume that the numbers are not what they used to be with the once very strong links between rural Donegal and Glasgow dying off with the older generations.

TG4 the Irish language channel made a 4 part documentary about the service a few years ago, mostly in Irish with English subtitles.

Thanks for clarifying the situation here, and for the link to the TG4 documentary . . . much appreciated.

Thanks for this, I suspected as much when I noticed that Parks "own" journeys on Citylink routes are flagged as such in the Citylink timetables, but there's no indication that different fares might apply on Parks journeys. Also on my, albeit infrequent, visits to Scotland I'd never seen a Parks liveried vehicle on one of their own timings, now I realise I should have been looking out for a Citylink-liveried vehicle carrying the parks name . . . I suppose I just wasn't sharp-eyed enough.

Like Roilshead says, thanks for clarifying. I did watch the documentary and it was very interesting actually. I can see the attraction dying off in a few years though as it is mostly older people. The next generation generally fly or would use Bus Eireann into Belfast and use the 923.

Yes, they do still operate their Scottish Express services, most run once a fortnight. I’ll save listing them and instead link to their 2019 timetable.

Those I’ve seen tend to be operated by ex-Stagecoach Volvo B12BT/Panthers.

McGill’s also operate the 902 Capital Flyer Wednesday to Saturday, one return trip, linking Greenock - Paisley - Edinburgh.
Yeah, have seen them parked up at mcarthur Glen. Always wondered why they were always parked up in there. Learn something new every day
