With electrification almost there it may not be long before we see an AC Electric run into South Wales.
Has one ever visited before under tow? I remember the odd ones dragged into Blackpool North before the wires went up.A few 87s were cut up in Caerwent but I think they came in by road.

I recall a similar question being asked about Blackpool. Nobody remembered the electric loco owned by Blackpool Corporation that worked the Fleetwood-Thornton Gate coal trains! So maybe there was a colliery or steelworks in South Wales with an internal electric railway. The Llechwedd Quarry in Blaenau Ffestiniog had a couple of leckies for example.

On the BR open days site it lists E3044 with a question mark for the Cardiff open day in 1970 I've had a little look on flickr and found a picture of E3044 at Bristol Bath Road open day in 1968 but nothing for Cardiff. I know for a fact that 310101 made it to Canton in the early 1990s for wheel turning https://www.flickr.com/photos/firemansam2/6022876774/

Although that would likely be a DC loco if so!
Definitely heard of model railways in Wales, also DC :)

I thought there might have been a loco over to canton for wheel turning, but no sign of that in the internet.

I've also got a photo of that there but have a feeling it was delivered to Port Talbot by road.
