A network rail compound at Llandudno junction was broken into on Sunday and a woodchipper worth 40,000 was taken.

There is an appeal including some cctv pictures of the alleged offending vehicle.

British Transport Police is appealing for information following a burglary at a Network Rail depot in Llandudno Junction.

The incident happened at 6.49pm on Sunday 15 December.

Entry was forced into the compound and a Timberwolf wood chipper machine, worth over £40,000, was stolen from the depot on Tre Marl Industrial Estate.

A silver 4x4 vehicle and a white van were believed to have been used to steal the machine. CCTV images reveals a vehicle travelling along the A55, heading eastbound towards England, transporting a machine.

BTP Sergeant Kelvin Rowlands, said: “We are working closely with Network Rail on this investigation and we ask who knows the identity of those involved, or who has any further information about the incident, to contact us by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 – quoting the reference number 900114385. Alternatively, you can provide any information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Bill Kelly, Network Rail route director Wales and Borders, said: “I would strongly urge anyone with any information in relation to this burglary to get in touch with British Transport Police.

“Burglary, such as these, have serious implications for the railway network and money lost from such crimes ultimately means there is less money available to spend on building and maintaining the railway network which directly impacts on the travelling public.”

It will be being towed behind a white van with just a mobile phone number (if that) on it by now - and used on jobs where there will be no insurance cover...

Why is the picture so fuzzy? If ANPR cameras can read number plates, surely the pictures produced should be sharper? Anyhow, the make year of the vehicle would help...can tell it's white. Hoping the police can get a lead from that.m Can't be too many of this type of vehicle on the road around the area? Gotta have some stones to steal a big item like that.

The picture was taken from a traffic monitoring camera on the A55 , hence the crap quality We don't have any ANPR cameras in that area sadly.

on the rise this kind of thing, you'd have thought NR would have a GPS/RF tracker fitted.

Theres a great YouTube channel (AutomatricsMTrack) where they do theft recovery operations using their GPS / RF trackers. They specialise in plant equipment and high end vehicles. Surely a good investment when expensive equipment is being left in yards and depots overnight.

It really isn't difficult to track down that vehicle, as the total number of them of that age in the UK will be in double digits. So a basic computer and review will narrow it down very quickly.
Looks like a Nissan Patrol?

You've done well to identify it as a late model from that picture!

laughable. I identified the vehicle. It's a very rare late model vehicle. The Mods deleted the post as adding nothing to the topic. Yet other comments ask for ID of the vehicle. Have you reported your findings to NR or local police?

Ballsy tracking those down on his own, probably end up going places the police only go by the van loads!
