On Saturday about 17:30 I am meeting a friend at Presto station and we intend on catching up over a couple of drinks and maybe some food if we can find some at an affordable price.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? We both think Preston can be a bit basic and grim but maybe it has some hidden gems. In the City Centre would a Weatherspoons be the best of the bunch? Would a walk down to Preston Marina/Docks be worth it?

Thanks guys. :)

The only decent place I've ever been in Preston is The (Mad) Ferret. Google it to see if it's your thing. Otherwise, Preston is non-descript.

It'll be dark and places will be shutting, otherwise I'd say walk up to the Minster, then the brutalist Bus Station, back to the Harris Museum - some distinctive buildings. No idea about food and drink, sorry.

I've only been to McDonalds outside Preston station, it's a good place to meet then move on to somewhere, but I've never ventured into the town as i was only passing through.

There's a Nando's by the Guild Hall, and quite a nice independent burger place down one of the side streets off Fishergate.

It all depends on what is meant by "affordable". If you mean "Spoons prices" Spoons is probably the best bet.

I've never been there but I think Riversway Docklands is more residential than a place worth visiting, give or take the preserved railway?

Plug and Tap on Lune Street - 5 mins from station and a good real ale and craft beer establishment - quite small but once served go upstairs, plenty of space
others to try are wings and beer or otters pocket, all within 5 mins of station
