I'm not sure the 140 exists anymore, there's an X140 which uses the same route but isn't included in the free travel zone, I asked the driver

The 140 has been withdrawn between Heathrow and Hayes with routes x140 and 278 as a replacement

Basically, 285 is free between Hatton Cross and Heathrow Central. 423 is free between Terminal 5 and Hatton Cross. 482/490 I believe is free between Terminal 4 and Hatton Cross.

X26 and X140 aren't included. Not sure whether the 278 is free between Heathrow Central and Harlington Corner?

When I ask bus drivers in the Heathrow area about the Heathrow Free Travel Zone they look at me like I'm talking Chinese, and the main online source seems to be this outdated map from business traveller https://www.businesstraveller.com/features/what-is-the-heathrow-free-travel-zone/

Is it intended that all Heathrow area hotels are free to get to?

It would seem not. There is a Hotel Hopper service linking the terminals with the hotels but it charges a premium price.

There is also the non-TfL route 555 operated by Hallmark, free between T4, Hatton Cross and Central.

The map linked by Man of Kent above is fairly accurate, except the 140 no longer exists (as mentioned) and the First route 7 to Slough no longer operates between Central and T5 so is no longer in the free zone

Hopefully they update the map soon. Heathrow have put a lot of funding into increasing the number of journeys on routes and introducing new routes over the last few months. Their publicity though, both online and at the bus stops, is terrible and quite embarrassing for one of Europe's busiest airports.

Because they don't want to take patronage away from the Hotel Hoppa routes, some of the hotels served being in the Free Travel Zone.
