I was on a 755(421) that sounded more whiney than usual yesterday sitting above the front bogie. It was also running on 3 engines only. Not sure if that was due to a fault - or a deliberate decision to save fuel / maintenance.
The 745 (006) was accelerated very well. 0 to 60 in less than 40 seconds and 100mph in well under 2 minutes. Very impressive. I make this the UK's fastest accelerating Intercity train??? Though some might argue that as it does not do 125mph..it isnt an Intercity train at all.
These things rip the timetable to shreds arriving 2 to 3 mins early at each station. Mind you - a hard driven 90 in the dry can also arrive early at most stops too. It will be good to see if timings north of Colchester can be reduced in the short term. Sitting at Ipswich Stowmarket and Diss for a combined 10 minutes is ridiculous. And still arrive at Norwich 2 or 3 early!

It will be even quicker when they can use full power ;)

The return working was late due to the 18:30 suffering delays near Colchester. That service eventually arrived Norwich 6 late with the Nin90 hot on its heels.

Are any 745's out today?

Information posted elsewhere indicates that the five Norwich diagrams today are

0650 Ingatestone to Norwich 90012+NC10
0750 Ingatestone to Norwich 745006
0850 Ingatestone to Norwich 745010
0950 Ingatestone to Norwich 745002
1050 Ingatestone to Norwich 90005+NC13

Five hour repeating cycle.

Any more 745s likely to be accepted this week? How many in service today? Is it the planned 4 and 1 spare?
There appeared to be two Stansted units at Norwich over the weekend - one at Victoria sidings - the other at Crown Point. Are they out on mileage accumulation yet?

Due to the current situation there is little demand for airport services so no rush to get any 745s on the Stansted route- more likely the Norwich route now to remove the non PRM Mk3s.

I was indeed thinking about whether the Stansted 745s might be used on Mainline services?

Anyone know what was on the 1330 ex Liverpool street
thought it was 008 but may been 009
many thanks
Think it may have been 009 as it was on the 1100 Norwich to Liverpool Street so think it would make sense if it then made the 1330 return.

You realise if there's little demand for Stanex there'll be little demand across the entire network. I doubt the current situation will affect the current plans, if only to delay them by some weeks.

From TV news reports there is little demand for any train service/s. Worrying ? Perhaps one per hour more than adequate for GEML ?

By keeping the train frequencies high, each passnger will be able to have more space. This will reduce the spread of infection.

2m is quite adequate, you don't need a coach to yourself.
Yeah there's only so far they'll be taking that - it's only a matter of time before a sizeable number of drivers need to self-isolate. 1tph for the whole of the GEML might be a stretch but 1tph for the Norwich services will surely be adequate.

Hopefully have a nice quite journey on a class 745 next Monday from Norwich
Jonathon Denby been on Radio Norfolk this morning saying loadings drastically down across all TOCs but they are required to operate the full service under the terms of the Franchise. Expect urgent talks with Daft.

Eurostar now down to running 3 trains to Paris and 2 to Brusssells per day all with no catering.

Common sense to prevail surely ? If there is a large downturn, cut back the traffic, and keep some Drivers 'spare' just in case they are needed !
