Largely just on the Polar Express when it's load 10 - although there may be a set out for the galas this year

Is the entire line open again this year? I think only a short section was running last year. Also, does anyone know why they own so many Mk3s, I can't think offhand of any other heritage railways that have any.

Entire line should be open fingers crossed

10 Mk3s used for Polar Express + spares required, it's quite an impressive sight a 33 pulling load 10 and a 47 on the other end.

Some of the Mk3 though are essentially just used as cheap storage

Yes, and one or two will never run again having been used as xmas trees and are largely just shells on wheels

The MNR ones have a non standard seating arrangement having been redone for the Polar Express trains - all in bays with no airline now

Hoping the full line will be open this year so we can do it. Live locally but for some reason haven't done it. We did the Polar Express in 2022 and were really impressed with it even if the ride was a bit short (and almost comically slow to make it last the length of the show).

The run back from the North Pole is not too bad, that is at least 15mph all the way

I noticed the same thing (excruciatingly slow) when watching videos of the Swanage Railway Christmas trains.
