Does TfW now have the largest number of the smallest microfleets

I think that makes sense? So the largest number of the smallest micofleets by total number of units in each microfleet. Has any TOC got more microfleets that are as small as TfW’s microfleets.

Does TfW maybe have the largest number of train types in one TOC full stop?

TfW currently in service classes:
67/Mk4
150
153
158
197
230
231

Northern:
150
155
156
158
170
195
323
331
333
769

Scotrail:
153
156
158
170
HST sets
318
320
334
380
385

Therefore it looks like ScotRail and Northern are tied on 9 types with TfW having 7.

TFW don't have 769s anymore, they left before the 170's did.

But when you compare by fleet size:
TFW - 184 (In service) - 60 (756+398)
Northern - 368
Scotrail - 346

TFW's fleet size is near enough half the size of Northern and Scotrail.
But also don't forget TFW is in the middle of a near complete fleet replacement, so it's inevitable there will be extra fleet types.
After fleet replacement TFW will have a fleet of 6 types, and it's likely the 153's and maybe even the 230's won't be around that long:
67/Mk4
153
197
230
231
398

I guess TfW's 153s are two microfleets- ones with PRM modifications and those without? And the active travel conversions to come.

Bearing in mind that the TfW 158s have a non-standard ETCS implementation, so for reasons of crew non-familiarity, Angel Trains is looking at options to 'revert' them back to non-ETCS spec.

I guess it is how you define micro-fleets. Potentially TfW has the 2 types of 153 as mentioned by Western 52, the there are the 67s and MK4s and 230s giving 4.

Northern has the 155s and 769s as a start plus the 170s if you want to get to 3. If you are counting the TfW 153s as 2 fleets then Northern also has the 158/9s, 3 car 158s and prototype 150s as well going up to 6 micro-fleets .

LNwR/West Midlands has the 139s and Northern 150s to give 2, there was a short time when the 319s made that 3.

Once again, we’re getting ridiculous in our definitions of microfleets.

Microfleets are small non standard fleets, not just any fleet that isn’t massive.

Take the WMR 139s or newly received 150s for example, or TfW’s 170s when they only had three. Their 230s, sure. Chiltern’s four 172s alongside the very large Turbo fleet, the TfL 360/2s.

If the number of them’s in double figures, it’s not a microfleet. A small fleet sure. Microfleet no.
