Train + Megabus journey: would I be stranded if a train delay causes Megabus to be missed?

I’m now stranded as despite leaving 90 minutes for interchange time at Victoria, I will no longer make my Megabus to Manchester, and the railway will no doubt abandon me due to Megabus being entirely separate.

Well, yes; you’ve been around long enough to know how that works?! If you’d booked a rail ticket to Manchester they’d get you there, seeing as you’ve gone with the competition you’ll need to sort that one out yourself! Might get some Delay Repay though!

Just in the same boat as if you missed a flight, a medical appointment or a hot date as a result of a late/cancelled train. Does Megabus allow a transfer to a later journey?

Correct. This is the sort of thing you need to take insurance for if the risk is unacceptable, as you would for a flight.

Megabus is cheap, though, so another bus is probably cheaper than bothering with that. Looking at today, there's one for just £6 in mid afternoon. You'd not get a travel policy for that.

Some companies are reasonable others less so - travel insurance is best option here, I have an annual policy

I would strongly recommend anyone in this situation make a quick check of
https://uk.megabus.com

And choose whichever is cheapest / most convenient depending on the time ot arrival.

That Flixbus link allows payment in Euros for a domestic British journey. If you've a card that offers fee-free spending in foreign currency this is almost always cheaper than paying in GBP.
