The Sutton Park line from Walsall to Water Orton is a freight only line and for the last few days trains have been diverted away from it.
Today (Mon) the following are going via Birmingham New St, all of which would have used the SP line.
6D44 NewSt 12:02 ???
6G99 NewSt 12:24 66720
6V84 NewSt 12:48 66714
5Q26 NewSt 14:09 New emu drag?
6G92 NewSt 15:20 Stone train

Anyone know what has happened?

I understand that a (human) body was found last week in suspicious circumstances. :frown:

No idea why the remains have to be painstakingly analysed on site, though - would the
M6 have been closed for several days if a body had been found on the hard shoulder...?

Thanks for the reply. It must have been terrible for the person who discovered the body and for the police who would have to tell the victim's family or friends.
As to the discussion about how quickly the railway should be re-opened, it might be best to have that at some other time.

How can you compare the Sutton Park line with the M6.

It's more like a country lane linking nothing in particular being closed and a diversion through a town centre for 5 vehicles a day.

If it was a busier line it would be open quicker. If the railway can work around it then why not let the Police take their time and do a full investigation without rushing and misong something.

Its much more than that. It averages 35-40 trains a day when open.

Just had a look at Tyrellcheck, it mentioned that BTP had requested an Archaeologist, Botanist and a Anthropologist, so I would say it ain't a recently deceased body.

Excavation too, so some serious attempt at hiding/burying it. There's been a bit of a dogwalkers path down there for a while, closer to it in the past though.
