*1: Beaulieu Park - new station construction proceeding between Chelmsford and Hatfield Peverel
*2: At Chappel and Wakes Colne there are two attractions, the East Anglian Railway Museum (opposite platform to NR via bridge) and the nearby impressive Chappel viaduct with WW2 pillboxes below. Neither were visited this time, I may return for this purpose.
*3: Sudbury - walked along the dismantled railway from Sudbury towards Long Melford, good path, many structures intact. Nature reserve and riverside walks nearby (not visited). Sudbury station (not original, end of line straightened out and relocated about 20 metres north) has minimal facilities; closest toilets at Waitrose for customers (or maybe at leisure centre). Sudbury has a number of interesting churches, including three on Church Street.
*4: Service delayed apparently due to the driver requiring a PNB after the incoming service was late.
