Euston station toilets in a disgusting state

For as long as I can remember, the toilets at Euston station have been in such poor condition.

The cubical walls and doors are full of graffiti, explicit messages and the paint is peeling off. The toilets are often blocked, with there being a pool of water on the floor around it. It doesn’t smell particularly pleasant, either.

In comparison, Kings Cross WC facilities are much more inviting, as well as kept in a much better condition.

Despite various complaints to Network Rail, absolutely nothing has been done to improve the WC facilities here.

Why is Euston such a run-down, unloved kind of station?

Probably higher usage. But I don't get why they don't use more robust designs to fit with that.

The thing that really gets me is why they can't solve the smell - it just requires a much more powerful set of air circulating and extraction fans. The toilets are on an outside wall so this should be easily possible.

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
I'm afraid this complaint seems to be rapidly becoming relevant to all network Rail managed stations where the toilets were previously chargeable as of course I said would happen. Regarding the ones at Euston however they are long overdue a refurbishment but can't imagine this happening until the inevitable reconfiguration of the facilities on concourse for HS2 arriving,

Anyone know when they were last done

The Paddington ones are fine, ditto the (Chiltern managed) ones at Marylebone and the (London and Continental managed?) ones at St Pancras, plus the Kings Cross ones mentioned above.

Marylebone are still charged aren't they? Chiltern still manage the station, not Network Rail.

London Liverpool St.'s I've found to be clean but can be poor for unsociable behaviour. With more stations adopting the London Bridge style design (Waterloo's planned new entrance is the same) it should become better as toilets are behind the ticket barriers.

The ones at London Bridge aren’t great. But I am surprised they don’t use more durable materials and easy-clean surfaces.

Having used station toilets at Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria, Stockport, Wilmslow, Stoke, Edinburgh, Durham, Leeds and Euston in the past few months I can't say I've found the Euston ones to be below par compared to others. I'd actually say Manchester Piccadilly's are on a par with Euston's, Stockport's are on a par with Stoke's. Edinburgh, Durham and Leeds are probably the best, with Wilmslow being the worst.

The Euston loos were relocated within the last ten (and very possibly five) years.

Edited to add: Much to my amazement a little googling showed that it was 2020.... the state that they have been allowed to get into, particularly given that CV was in the middle, is disgraceful.

Although, not always an improvement for passengers if access beyond the barriers can be resticted until a certain time based on your ticket, or if it's an interchange between trains and another made of transport (including buses, trams and tube).

They haven't been relocated for a very long time, possibly ever. They were refurbished fairly recently as you say but clearly using cheap materials.

I was quite impressed with Euston toilets last week although I only went for a wee. Where all in EasyJet orange & extremely clean.

I disagree with charging for toilets unless there's a contactless card machine. I haven't touched a coin in years

The St Pancras ones generally smell absolutely disgusting, to the point where the smell drifts into the corridor outside by the left luggage office, which points to poor ventilation.

The ones near Wetherspoons (Barrel Vault) are okay.

Those are the ones I mean. It probably depends when you’re there, to be fair. And if you’ve just had a few in the Wetherspoons, you might have lost your sense of smell :D.

Haha, no was just passing through on my way from Brum to Norwich via Euston/Stratford Intl last week. I hadn’t touched a drop for at least 12hrs ;)

The ones at Liverpool Street leave a lot to be desired especially the hand washing facility, sink filthy & dryers seem to not work, but they have variety of wildlife chirping over the PA to cheers us all up

I agree, took me 5 attempts this evening to find a cubicle with a working lock, the first 4 had the lock ripped off (either on the door frame or on the door itself).

No, MYB are free. And absolutely disgusting.

Can't agree with either of you. Both have always seemed fine when I use them. They're not Harrods standard, but perfectly acceptable.

I've used all of the above regularly (apart form the Kings Cross ones), and they're all fine IMO, but the Fenchurch Street ones leave a fair bit to be desired, although even they are not bad enough to avoid. I think the Waterloo ones might still charge.
