I'm booked on the 13:14 from Wigan Northwestern to Euston on Friday April 12th (1M11 - 10:40 from Glasgow) and am considering an upgrade to standard premium.
A couple of questions -
* Is there likely to be plenty room, or am I better upgrading beforehand?
* The Avanti website bot says - "1710613913485.png
How does the order from seat work?
* Is it the standard shop menu or can you buy from the First Class menu?

Thanks in anticipation.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no more at-seat ordering - it was very inconsistent and barely ever available in the first place. It's been replaced by click-and-collect from the shop.

I'll let others comment on loadings as I haven't used SP since it was in its infancy and nobody seemed to know about it.

There's no longer at seat service. It ended a while back so they'll need to update their website. Only the click and collect service is available now but it's very few trains that have it switched on.

It's only the shop catering you can purchase. Not 1st class items can be bought.

Usually if you want to check loadings, you can just make a dummy booking via their website (do all the booking but don’t go to the payment page).

Re catering, Avanti stopped the at-seat order quite a while ago. They claim to have click and collect which never ever seems to work, so it’s always a trek to Coach C.

Loadings can vary depending on the route, my train from Glasgow on Monday only has five unreserved seats left in Standard Premium, so if you want to guarantee a seat in there it’s best to upgrade when you buy the ticket, and with it being a Friday the services might be more busy.

Thanks everybody. Shame about the at-seat as I have mobility issues. Probably buy on the station then eat on board.
