Unusual sign at Littlehampton

Just wondered if anyone can confirm if the Red Star in the picture is for Red Star Parcels? And if so, when did they close for business? Many thanks

Edit: OK, I can't seem to add the photo! So, if anyone has seen the sign outside Littlehampton Station, can you confirm it's for Red Star parcels?

I've just looked on Streetview and the totem outside the station does have a Red Star parcels sign under the BR arrows.

Is that the one on the pole under the BR sign as seen on Google streetview? Then yes that’s a normal type of red star parcels sign. I guess there’s nobody who’d admit responsibility for removing it.

Here's a close-up from June 2022

Brighton station has had (now removed!) a similar sign on Terminus Road, too

It’s as if privatisation never happened:

(Image shows “British Rail” sign at Marylebone underground in 2017, though it was still there in February 2024).

Guildford still has it's red star sign.
It also gas a boarded up EIIR postbox on platform 2 next to rhe former office. I'm guessing the postbox only came in to use around 1987/88.

If it stopped being used in 2001, it's had more years disused than in use.

Euston still has its giant red star sign, sorry about the low quality. Was the best angle I could find on street view.

Coincidence being located nearby really. Many more stations had postboxes on platforms or at their main entrances before and after Red Star was a thing. A postbox would be cleared by a postman on a collection round, was probably somewhere nearby before the last station rebuild and would have been blanked off once people stopped using it in justifiable numbers like any other. Unused postboxes fitted into building walls are often left for years.

That makes sense. Their is a more plastic looking postbox in the foyer.

The Marylebone one is particularly rare, as LU is hot on updating signage.
It's certainly not the only example of "British Rail" on LU signage, though! Take this at Piccadilly Circus:

Apparently Red Star signs can still be found at Bradford Interchange, Bournemouth Central, Birmingham New Street, Littlehampton, London Euston, York, Derby, Stoke-On-Trent, Stafford, Southend Victoria and Great Yarmouth (source Red Star Parcels Wikipedia page)
Could anyone confirm if the Bradford Interchange one is still there? I've found a September 2021 Google Streetview image of the area near the Supervisors' office that doesn't show it where I expected to see it.

Southampton had one in recent memory on the down side, the furthest west end of the building. Only removed to be replaced by a sign for “Doddle”, and that idea didn’t last long.

Not full Red Star, but there remains a roadsign for “BR Parcels” on the approach to Reading station on the A329. Google Streetview image of same below.

Back when I worked for ScotRail at Motherwell (2004), the lift that goes from Platform 2 to the Bridge had a door on the wrong side and a key switch marked “Red Star” to allow access to the Red Star office without having to go through the concourse.

The Red Star office by that point had been converted into staff facilities for the revenue team, and I did on occasion use the lift to get from the locker room to the platforms as it still opened into the locker room. But it was not possible to use it to get into the locker room from the platform without the key.

The Red Star office was a couple of feet above the bridge level too, so it did have to raise/drop slightly to do this.

I noted that the last time I used the lift (during the refurb works) that the labelling and key switch had been removed rendering the wrong side access to the lift out of use.
