This doesn't fit into any of the Quiz categories, hence its placement here. The nice 4-way fingerpost is fairly near a closed station not too far from where I live, and its indicated destinations have been truncated to their initial letters, which on the signs from top to bottom and left to right are P/D, A/G/N, D/B/A and E/A. So which station, and what is the full lettering?Fingerpost.jpg

Almost certainly in East Lothian. Somewhere near Dalkeith? That used to have a station in the past.

Post #6 is definitely the answer. If you go to the 2021 version of Google Streetview all the words are visible:

Yes, Haddington, and a splendid fingerpost it is.

Pencaitland/Dalkeith, Aberlady/Gullane/North Berwick, Dunbar/Berwick-on-Tweed/And The South, Edinburgh/And The North.

Most unlikely that anyone could have got all of the words without knowing the signpost, or from GSV, of course.

Strangely, it's the only sign in Haddington for North Berwick, nor is the one indicated the best road, which is off the ex-A1 A199 to Dunbar.

I wonder if showing North Berwick there might date from when that crossroads was on the original A1? Avoiding the town centre maybe?
