I'm surprised the news took so long to hit this thread, I read about the Streetdeck order last Saturday! It also mentions they'll include "some interesting new features for NCT that you would associate with a long-distance route", so I suppose take your guesses at what that means. It also mentions they're due near the end of 2025, so perhaps the Omnidekkas will at least be seeing the start of the 2025/6 academic year?
My first thought is tables maybe 3 pin sockets.

500 has tables at the back and they just seem to be prone to vandalism. Not sure the chargers have worked in about years

Something to make the service attractive to the higher class passengers who tend to be from Southwell/ villages

Southwell is a bit more civilised than where 500 normally stays!

Rumours floating around that CT4N have lost the Medilink contract which has been won by NCT

Edit: been told it's not NCT that's won it

Well that's what I predicted about a year back! Would be absolutely amazing if true. The service has great potential but for a variety of reasons CT4N have run the service down massively.

Well, who did?
Not herard this rumour and I have no idea who could gained it but unless it's a very small independent my guesses would be vectare (central connect) as they are growing presence in notts with school, cc, and nhs contracts or notts derby? as Trent wouldn't although I doubt would be them. cant think who else could/would

It's currently run by electrics so would the new operator also run it using electric buses? Does that narrow down who it could be?
It's not actually though. The MED1 is run by electrics in the Peaks, but the MED2 is always an Omnidekka and the electrics don't have good batteries so go back to charge during the day, with diesel buses doing the MED1 between school runs.

Maybe I'm remembering from a few years ago when it was run by electrics.
Even so, will the new contract require electrics is my point.

I think the BYD K9UR electrics (what the Medilink currently uses) are owned by Nottingham City Council and could move between operators. However with their poor condition a new operator might not want to take them on. Given the Council aren't in the best financial position, they might favour a cheaper bid to use diesels and let the operator look after their own vehicles.

Two of them were used on the gateway shuttle so I'm not sure if they are council owned.

CT4N operate the SEGRO shuttle
That's the Yutongs.

2 of the BYDs are with a Blackburn operator. Only 1 BYD is showing as tracking. Have all the other ones been withdrawn? I assume that the charging points at Queens Drive were re-instated following the flooding?

Yes but they also operated it before the Yutongs arrived with the K9s did they not? And the K9s have just never tracked on bustimes

Yes, the Yutongs replaced the SEGRO BYDs, one of which was sold and the other repainted for the Medilink.

Most of them don’t track

For example looking on BusTimes now, only two buses are tracking on the Medilink when in reality it’ll be many more than that

I visited the Queen's Drive Park and Ride site in Nottingham a few weeks ago. At least 7 BYDs were on the charging point there, a couple in blue, the rest with the lime front. Another turned up on the QMC service.

Seems to be delays on the 48 this morning - no Yutongs out just 3 spare DDs, 901 and 921 being two of them

It looks like the 45 was down a bus all day today weirdly, one of the Yutongs was shown on bustimes as operating it but was also tracking as being sat at Trent Bridge depot all day

The nct ticket machines especially have a habit of making things up/ being completely wrong. It would be very very very unusual for NCT to cancel a whole service and not notify passengers about it via the usual channels.

I would imagine it was running as normal and the ticket machine was just tracking from trent bridge for some random reason!!

When was the last time NCT ordered anything brand new from Wrightbus?
Would it be the Scania L94UB/Bendy’s?
I reckon so. In fact, anything from Wrightbus at all.

I do wonder if, firstly, they're likely to get any more Ultroliners in the near future; and, secondly, if they'll eventually translate into orders for Electroliners. Regarding the former, I wonder if we could see the 1 getting new buses, because I can't imagine the 1 getting cascaded gas buses.
