Two Together with staff travel

Hi, apologies in advance if this has been asked before. Is it possible to travel with someone else on a two together railcard, with only one person holding tickets and another using free staff leisure travel?

Also, is it possible to easily buy identical tickets through the forum site with different railcards? It's preferable to do this in one transaction as it will be 3 travelling, one with staff travel, one with two together (only eligible and already owned railcard), and one with a disabled person's railcard.

Thank you.

You’ll find that most (if not all) retailers will only sell two-together railcard discounted tickets two at a time.

I believe the short answer to each of your questions (without reading the detail) is no.

You’d probably find it easiest here to use the Disabled Railcard to discount two people, and for the third person to use their staff travel facilities. Ignore the Two Together totally.

No, you can't use two railcards at the same time and the staff travel card is, effectively, a railcard.

Oh! I completely forgot that the disabled railcard allows a companion to join. That negates the requirement for the extra railcard altogether. Thank you both for the responses and clarifications.

They were only suggesting using one for each ticket, though I don't think it can be done like that.
If they wanted to be the second person on a Two Together they were suggesting using two.

What @Haywain said makes sense to me, though the person with staff travel wouldn't be using any ticket as it is free travel. Still, it could be seen as the staff travel is a ticket and railcard, so is not eligible. The forum's ticket site was (and still is) going to be the choice for tickets and it (sensibly) doesn't allow purchasing individual tickets with a two-together railcard, so it is out of the question anyway. A two together railcard is already held for one person and the person with staff travel, and the third will need a new railcard (eligible for a disabled person's railcard). With the option of using the disabled person's railcard for two people, that solves the whole issue. The person with the two together railcard (and no staff travel) is not eligible for any other railcards at the moment, which is why a two together railcard is already held.

Who do you think the second person on the Two Together Railcard was proposed to be?
That's why it doesn't work. They wanted to discount one ticket with staff discount and accompany someone using the Two Together to just discount one. You can't do that, but not because you can't get a double discount, but because both people have to use the Two Together discount.

I know, hence my answer in post #3.

Indeed. The only way that a Two Together Railcard can be used with only one discounted ticket is where the other cardholder is making the same journey and holds an annual season ticket covering that journey.

Would it work with other monthly or weekly season tickets?

No, it is specifically annual seasons.
I can't see any basis for restricting this "easement" to season tickets, let alone annual ones. The Railcard T&C's - in an INFORMATION box presumably intended to be non-contractual - merely state that the tickets 'should' be issued for the same journey. That doesn't indicate it's compulsory for that to be the case.

If the industry wants Two Together Railcards to be restricted in this way, it needs to reword the Railcard conditions.
