Hi,
Can anyone confirm for me if the Freedom of Severn & Solent rover is valid between Severn Tunnel Junction and Gloucester via Chepstow? The railrover website (updated March 2025) says it is, but the map on the GWR website (updated May 2023) does not show it. The National Rail page just points to the GWR website.

Thanks

Hello again,

I'm planning to visit Great Malvern from Cardiff on one of its days - I know it isn't valid via Hereford, but is it valid to change at Worcestershire Parkway from an XC service to the GWR to GMV? Or can I only go via Cheltenham + Worcester Foregate St?

As per the map linked to on the NRE page for the Severn and Solent Rover, it's not valid beyond Ashchurch in the direction towards Birmingham/Worcestershire Parkway. To avid any ambiguity, Worcestershire Parkway also isn't listed as a valid station.

You could buy an additional ticket from Ashchurch to Worcester Foregate Street, and that would allow you to travel via Worcestershire Parkway on the XC service (non-stop splits are permitted when using a ranger or rover, amongst other tickets).
