The area of Eastbourne to the East of the town centre gets a direct service to and from Brighton only in the early mornings and late evenings. This is because Brighton & Hove outstation many buses at the Stagecoach depot on Birch Road and run the buses to and from the depot in passenger service. During the daytime you would have to take two buses and change in Eastbourne town centre.

In York, the 14 combines the routes of the 12 & 13 during the evening only. Starting at Woodthorpe, it mimmicks the 12 until it reaches the Tesco Superstore at Moor Lane, where it mimmicks both the 12 & 13 down Tadcaster Road into York City Centre, it breaks off from the 12 near Layerthorpe and followes the 13 to Haxby. The 12 & 13 run daytime only, so the 14 gives Woodthorpe and Haxby an evening service and provides the only direct bus service between the two.

The 200 is an early morning service and runs in one direction only, between Moor Lane Tesco Superstore, Acomb, Boroughbridge Road, Leeman Road, York Centre, Fulford and James Street Depot. It provides the only direct connection between the Tesco and Leeman Road, as well as Fulford. It is primarily used as a staff service as it ends at First's depot at James Street.

The 10L runs via Leeman Road during the evening, instead of Holgate Road and Blossom Street like the 10 does. It's the only direct service from Leeman Road to Stamford Bridge and Dunnington. It acts as an evening service for Leeman Road, which is served by the Park & Ride 59 during the day.

SPT's evenings and Sundays 137 runs Carnwath-Lanark-Forth, which needs a change at other times. It then continues to Braehead (Lanarkshire) which has no other bus service.

For a while, Hulley's of Baslow route 257 was almost a completely different route on Sunday, serving all sorts of places didn't have direct buses to Sheffield during the week, such as Glossop and New Mills.

Hulley's closure earlier this year created, albeit only for a few days, a very strange anomaly on route 272 where you could get directly from Sheffield to Bradwell on any day of the week, but from Bradwell to Sheffield only on Sunday.

In Wensleydale the through Hawes-Leyburn-Northallerton buses operate only on Sundays. On weekdays it's three separate services with a change in Bedale and Leyburn. On Saturdays last year there was a gap in the middle with nothing between Leyburn and Bedale bar the heritage railway! (Which is vaguely useful as public transport but a bit pricey for that purpose). Though there is now a Bedale-Leyburn Saturday service this year.

The Chesterfield routes 1 and 2 operate differently on evenings and Sundays. Weekday daytime, the services run from Chesterfield following their normal routes through to Bolsover with the 1 extending to Shirebrook and Langwith via the Sports Direct warehouse, and the 2 serving Scarcliffe and Palterton. In the evenings, the 2 curtails at Bolsover, with the 1 serving Scarcliffe on its way to Langwith and Shirebrook, without serving the Sports Direct Warehouse. It's all very confusing!

The 242 for a long time ran to Welwyn Garden City from Waltham Cross, extended from Potters Bar only on a Sunday! Only runs to Welham Green Station now, so they can get with running just 1 bus on it. Usually a minibus every 2 hours as well! So inappropriate for a town of 50000 people!

Also the cost cutting efforts of Essex County Council produced a true Frankenstein of a route on Sunday only 16C (formerly 66A) in Waltham Abbey, Loughton and Debden, they combined all of the regular and town non-TFL routes of all 3 towns into just 1 route on Sundays. It's amazing the drivers don't ever get lost or confused on route, riding it gives me a headache, especially as it seems to loop around Upshire forever!

If I'm not mistaken, the 864 bus over in Yorkshire offers through journey opportunities from Bradford to Malham, via Skipton, on Sundays/BHs, and the 866 bus similarly, albeit from Keighley to Malham, via Skipton. The rest of the week, it's just Skipton to Malham (or Skipton to Settle, via Malham, only on Saturdays).

The 864 also provides the only direct service between Ilkely and Malham, and also Bradford and Ilkley.

One from Stagecoach South East. Service 101 Hastings-Rye via Fairlight on Sundays is extended as service 100 to New Romney supplementing the main service 100 Hastings-New Romney via Winchelsea and Rye giving through services from Fairlight and Winchelsea Beach to Camber, Lydd and New Romney which on other days involves changing buses at Rye.

Another one on Wirral, the 129 from Liscard to Frankby Cemetery.
Through all the cost cutting and service reductions this one round trip has somehow managed to keep going.

Yes, certainly a strange one! Only operates Sundays & Bank Holidays, with little of its route that isn’t covered by other services.

One from the Medway towns. Evening and Sunday journeys on Arriva service 101 Maidstone-Gillingham are extended to Twydall these being times when service 182 Chatham-Twydall does not operate. Twydall does however have a limited daytime service to Maidstone on Nu-Venture service 130 but this runs via Hempstead Valley rather than Chatham.

On Sundays, Falcon Buses 715 (Kingston to Guildford) diverts off the main A307 between Surbiton and Esher to instead run via the more residential built up areas of Thames Ditton and around Esher station. This is essentially a merging of the 715 with the Mon-Sat 515 to maintain a service around those areas, but in turn gives them a Sunday only link through to Guildford.

Trentbarton used to run the Sundays only 20 service from Nottingham to Heanor, that was actually joined up parts of the 18, 21, 27 and 23. None of those routes are run by TB nowadays

In Leeds the 16A variant runs on Evenings and Sundays via Rodley for Pudsey to Whinmoor. 1 per hour. An anomaly to this is there is 1 early morning 16A journey to add.

All other journeys are 16.
but doesn’t go via Rodley. Service is Monday to Saturday 15 min approx frequency then 1 per hour eves and suns. The other per hour is the 16A above.

Most journeys of Centrebus's service LC5 (tendered by Leicestershire County Council) run only between Loughborough and Sileby, but the first journey of the day begins in Thurmaston and the final journey terminates there.

In the middle of the day, a service 5X does a single round trip between Sileby and Loughborough and then back via a more direct route: this route is commercial and was apparently registered because there is nowhere to park a bus in Sileby in a gap between runs of the LC5.
