Formed 165128, fast Reading to London. Not happened for a while that I've noticed, but delighted the quiet 2 car Turbo in Newbury platform 3 is not a failed Bedwyn shuttle

It lost some time but lost even more time on the 20:05 out of Paddington back to Newbury.
The outbound service was a cancelled 387 from Paddington so it looks like they found a spare Turbo in Reading and ran it from there to Newbury, then back into and out of Paddington, which for an evening regional service would have been quiet. At least they run something and don't cancel the rest of the diagram.

Agreed, well.done Reading for finding a spare, the retro rush of a fast 165 Paddington run a bonus too.

While I don't know the entire story and there could be other factors, other cancellations could have been avoided that night had better planning been thought out.

1K37 was capped at Reading so the turbo could return to the depot, but as 2P86 which forms part of 2R78 along with 1K37 was cancelled, this meant 2R78 had no stock available. If the Turbo had just carried on to Paddington, it could have run 2R78. 2R78 was booked to be formed of just 4 coaches due to 1K37 being a turbo, which then meant they cancelled 2P98, the 0115 to Paddington, are you really telling me that at 0115 you have no available 387???
