On ICE in Germany for example First Class gets you a bigger seat/quieter environment and maybe at-seat service from the on-board restaurant. You still have to pay for the meals and drinks though. On TGV in France you only get the seat.

The most up-to-date information in the lounge is that we will be bussed to Aviemore. “Fortunately” you can’t see the station, let alone the train from the lounge. I’m not a betting man, but I’d put money on the passengers arriving at Aviemore before the train does.

According to RTT it’ll travel empty to Aviemore at 2000. I wonder if it has staff misplaced? Otherwise... put us on it!

Network Rail (from the BBC article here) are saying it'll be 10-14 days to repair it. Valley Lines are the worst affected, with nothing going between CDF and CDQ, diverting via the City Line for most services.

I've only "lost" my railcard once, and only because it was in a little pocket of my wallet I never checked. The very nice FGW lady just gave me a top-up ticket instead, to cover the difference in the fare. Happy to refund it when I finally dug the railcard out, too.
