Are ticket inspectors exempt from Social Distancing regulations?

There was a man checking tickets at Macclesfield, and therefore not sticking to Social Distancing regulations. The other day he caught somebody who had got on at Poynton without a ticket, a much need £4.50* in the coffers. Surely this shouldn't be happening at the moment?! *plus admin...

Do we have 'multi city' tickets?

I'm looking to travel from Manchester to Wimbledon, then Wimbledon to Southampton on one day, and then from Southampton to Manchester the following day (23/24 March). Is there a 'multi city' ticket I can buy for this, or will I have to get 3 separate singles?

"London Euston to Weybridge via Surbiton" but wanted ticket to include the tube

Yes - it was a machine. It wasn't the Virgin Trains one - that couldn't offer me a fare, it was the London Midland (?) one. Work pay, so it's not the end of the world, but that's not the point!

"London Euston to Weybridge via Surbiton" but wanted ticket to include the tube

There was no option to buy a ticket from LU zone 1... it only allowed me to select a destination (via...)

"London Euston to Weybridge via Surbiton" but wanted ticket to include the tube

I bought a ticket yesterday from Euston to Weybridge, and was given two options. One was 'Any Permitted', the other was 'via Surbiton'. I bought the (cheaper) via Surbiton ticket, as almost all trains go via Surbiton... I got a confirmation on the screen to show that the ticket was for 'London...

What could we have done differently ?

Sounds like a prime example of poor customer service on the railway. This is why I feel it's sad that a company like Virgin, who generally 'GET' customer service, are not being able to reapply for their franchise. I'd be surprised if you had a similar experience with them.

Summons to appear at Magistrate's court over parking fine from TOC

Apologies - as noted below, Pepipoo maybe not the right place after all, was just trying to help :) I'm afraid I can't help from a rail perspective, but have you posted this on the Pepipoo forum? They are specialised in parking fines & tickets, and may be best placed to help.

Virgin Trains ticket website - "we just want to tailor your journey"

They'll use this to try and improve your customer experience in the future. Standard practice - what can they do to stop you using alternative methods of transport? I think it's fair enough, and from a customer point of view, I think Virgin do a much better job than some of the other 'big boys'...

    Manchester to London

You'll need to be on the ball to get those advances - but it's definitely possible to get them if you're organised. Have you considered flying? It's a bit more hassle, but I find it much cheaper than the train for peak time MAN-LON travel.

Rail Freight: has there been an increase in volume carried?

Interesting, do you know if there's a place to get stats on this? Just done a quick google search but can't find anything :frown:

Rail Freight: has there been an increase in volume carried?

Hello, Just been doing some thinking whilst travelling past a rail transporter carrying lots of cars in the Rugby area - which I hadn't seen before! Given the driver shortage across Europe, has there been much of an increase in rail freight across the UK - is that something that people have...

Wimbledon to Weybridge then back to Waterloo

Hello, Travelling from Wimbledon (where I'm staying) to Weybridge tomorrow, but need a return to Waterloo in the afternoon. If I buy a return from Waterloo to Weybridge (via Wimbledon) online, can I start my outbound journey from Wimbledon (I'll pick my ticket up today)? Or would that be...

Truck driver shortages - more rail freight?

Part of the problem is that many drivers are now agency-employed... and agencies don't tend to pay for training. With fewer and fewer companies owning their own fleet, and with national service no longer a thing (and the HGV licences earned during it!), it's difficult and relatively expensive to...

Truck driver shortages - more rail freight?

I'm hearing a lot at work at the minute (I work in supply chain), that there are huge implications across Europe due to a shortage of lorry drivers. This is leading to factories (including some of the 'big, big' names) running at around 75% capacity, as they simply can't get their products...
