Can Ticket Office staff find better deals?

A Facebook spat with someone whose 'friend' works in a ticket office apparently, they didn't like being called out on it being a load of tripe so I thought I best check, they tried to insist it was like airlines who sell off cancelled seats at next to nothing, laughable in itself as airlines...

Can Ticket Office staff find better deals?

Bit of an odd one this. Can Ticket Office staff find better deals on tickets that aren't available online, i.e I have been told that cancelled tickets could be sold off for cheaper than the advertised fare by ticket office staff. That fares can be reduced at short notice and only said Ticket...

    Interrail Pass

I know when i went inter railing i managed to get one at a local travel agents and then picked up a further one at Liverpool St for a friend who decided at the last minute to tag along but this was about 15 years ago. Exeter to Paddington Sleeper

Well,i've done it round Europe inter-railing in the 90s, and believe me some of the East European trains leave a lot to be desired!!! And the Paris to Rome overnight service isnt much fun with 4/6 people in a berth in 30+ degrees!! So 5 hours reading a book shouldnt be too bad.

    Exeter to Paddington Sleeper

Thanks for the quick replies, am i right in assuming that to take a normal seat rather than a berth, no supplement would need to be paid?

Returning...

    Exeter to London

Often the fares from London are a lot cheaper if you go from Waterloo and split your journey London - Pinhoe (tiny station 2 miles from Exeter Central) and Pinhoe to Exeter. Have saved upwards of £40 per journey in the past splitting it this way
