    Scotland's 'polar express'

The heating or lack of it is so bad, I and many others now take the Citylink to Oban and Fort William. What used to be really cosy trains and a pleasure to travel in are now just awful. I wonder if the 153 is the same, not travelled in it. ( bicycle carriage )

Avanti WC down the pan again

Totally agree. Folk just trying to get home and are asking the team for guidance and reassurance. Glasgow will be heaving tonight and good luck looking for a taxi to take you over the border. I also imagine a lot of the city centre hotels will be full.

Severe weather Saturday 7th October, some ScotRail services suspended.

It’s Network Rail (Scotland) have caused services to be suspended not the train companies. We’ll close the West Highland Line, Highland Mainline (Perth-Inverness) and the lines to Balloch and Helensburgh west of Dalmuir on Saturday due to extreme rainfall. Month’s worth of rain (180mm) forecast...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

2027, good news for the haters!! Suspect it’ll be 158’s up and back to Pwllheli with the 197’s working to Aberystwyth and passengers changing at Machynlleth.

    Wrexham train fire 08/2/23

Sat on a pair of 153’s from Shrewsbury to Llandudno Junction and the seat alignment to the windows is far superior, you can at least open a window. I don’t get the shop on a 2 carriage 197, what’s wrong with a trolley. A waste of space on a set with only 121 seats and 1 toilet.

    Wrexham train fire 08/2/23

Went in one of them 197s from Llandudno to the Junction, hated every second, claustrophobic and very uncomfortable seats. Mini Azumas.

Have your tickets been checked on your journey?

I’ve got a North Wales Rover and there’s not been a conductor selling tickets on any of the trains I’ve been on since Wed bar the Avanti conductor from Crewe to Chester. On the Cambrian and Conwy Line it was only if request stops were required not ticket checks.

Future of On-Train Catering- Scotrail and Caledonian Sleeper

Was on the Night Riviera on Thursday 8th Dec from Paddington to Penzance and the lounge car was open, sat in it to Reading. It was the first night of a trial so felt quite fortunate to be able to sit and relax before bed.

Is the first class lounge open at all in Paddington? I am booked on the sleeper next month and usually use it before boarding the train.
