New railtour company on West Highland Line, Scotland

I thought I read that all trips would be 47s except for possibly one week when 37s may work. Shame indeed it's aircons, would have thought early mk2s would have been more suitable. Pairs of 33s aren't allowed on the WHL or anywhere much in Scotland it appears, maybe chaps north of the border...

    The West Countryman

I was under the impression that this tour will be 2 66s as opposed to 67s. Derek

    Class 25 haters site

Well I will be very happy when 25309 is returned to the mainline in the near future thanks to Dan Monkman at West Coast. Well done that man! Derek :D

    Electric Loco Poll

Close choice between 81s and 85s but as I had more mileage off them as there were more to go at than the 81s I voted for 85s. Electrics never quite the same for me after all the roarers went but I did get a soft spot for 86s towards the end and in particular in Anglia. The AC LocoGroup has done...

More loco hauled trains for FGW

What I found interesting as well on WNXX was the talk of more loco hauled trains on FGW, presumably these could be 57s if there is in fact any truth in the rumours. Anyone else heard about anything else that could be hauled in FGW territory presumably something west? Derek

    Skegness class 47's

I believe it finishes on Saturday 6 September. This Saturday's locos should be 47826 and 47851 Derek

Class 31s on NXEA Local Services

Let's hope the situation with ECT/Mainline Rail doesn't scupper the use of 31s in East Anglia. Seems incredible how complicated a loco hauled train is these days, must be some short memories out there! Derek

    FGW 142 ventures into Cornwall

GW gen appears to be a private list as opposed to SWRG, do you know who runs it? Derek

The Lakeland Coast (Pair of peds!) Saturday 10th May, 2008

Surely if it is to run with 31s then WCRC will have to be the operator as opposed to EWS. I presume if EWS do this charter it may well be 37s. Derek

uh oh! rumours of the return of {gulp}... Class 86s to Anglia!

Shame they couldn't hire in 86101 and 86401 when both are OTMR fitted and whatever other things are required before the end of the year. They will have had a lot more TLC than most other electrics. Derek

    Class 121/122 'Bubble' Car routes

I remember Class 122s in my local area on Leamington to Stratford Upon Avon services in the 1980s, often paired in summer months. Class 121s appeared in later days most usually 55032-034. Bubbles were so part of the scene around this part of Warwickshire and never the same since...
